Scheme Rulebook
Everything you need to know to get started.
The Objective
The goal of Scheme is to have a higher total Board Value than your opponent when the game ends. Your Board Value is the sum of the points of all the character cards you have in your pyramid.
How the Game Ends
A game of Scheme concludes in one of two ways:
- Pyramid Completion: The first player to fill all 14 empty slots of their pyramid immediately ends the game. The player with the higher Board Value at that moment wins.
- Card Depletion: If a player cannot draw a card at the start of their turn because their deck is empty, the game ends. The player with the higher Board Value wins.
If the scores are tied at the end of the game, the result is a draw.
Game Setup
- Choose a Leader: At the start, you will select one of three Leaders. Each Leader has a unique passive ability that shapes your strategy for the entire game.
- The Deal: You begin the game with a hand of 7 cards, a Leader on your board, and the rest of your cards forming your draw deck.
The Game Board: Your Pyramid
Your play area is a pyramid structure with 15 total slots. The top slot is for your unmovable Leader card. The 14 slots below are for your Follower cards.
A slot is only considered playable if it is empty AND it is in the second row OR it is supported by at least one card in the row directly below it.
Your Turn
Each turn you get 3 Actions after your initial draw (which costs 1 AP). You can spend AP to:
- Play a Card (1 AP): Play a Follower into a valid slot.
- Activate an Ability (Cost varies): Use an "Activated" ability on one of your cards.
- Move a Card (1 AP): Move a Follower to another empty slot in the same row.
Card Types & Abilities
- Leader Cards: Your powerful, unmovable core. Their passive abilities are always active.
- Follower Cards: The main characters you play from your hand to build your pyramid and score points.
Understanding abilities is key to victory. Abilities can be;
- "On Play" (trigger automatically)
- "Activated" (require you to spend AP)
Cards can also "inherit" abilities from the cards supporting them, creating powerful combos.
Inherited Abilities
A card can “inherit” the abilities of the cards directly supporting it from below. This allows you to create powerful chain reactions and combos as you build your pyramid upwards. A card cannot inherit abilities if its parent is affected by Cancel or Sabotage.
Common Effects & Keywords
- 📈 Pump: Temporarily increases a card's point value.
- 🚫 Cancel: Temporarily disables a card's printed and inherited abilities.
- 💣 Sabotage: Reduces a card's points to 0 and disables its abilities for a turn.
- 🔎 Analyze: Look at the top cards of your deck and reorder them.
- ➡️ Outsource: Force your opponent to discard a random card from their hand.
- ©️ Copy: Copy the printed abilities of another Follower on the board.
- 🛠️ Restructure: An activated ability that lets you move a card to any empty slot on the board, not just the same row.

Thank you for playing Scheme! This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you use our web application and future mobile applications (the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
a) Information You Provide to Us:
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password. We also require you to create a unique username (display name) which will be visible to other players.
- User-Generated Content: We store the game decks you create and save, as well as your card collection data.
b) Information We Collect Automatically:
- Gameplay Data: We automatically collect data about your in-game activity, such as match history, wins, losses, and rating changes, to operate the game's ranking system.
- Service Providers (Firebase): We use Google Firebase to provide the backend infrastructure for the Service. Firebase may collect certain data automatically, such as device information, IP addresses, and usage data for security and operational purposes. 2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for various purposes, including to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service.
- Create and manage your user account.
- Enable matchmaking and multiplayer gameplay.
- Save your game progress, decks, and card collection.
- Calculate and display player ratings and rankings.
- Communicate with you, including responding to your comments, questions, and requests.
- Monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities in connection with our Service to improve it.
3. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- With Other Players: Your username is visible to other players during gameplay and on leaderboards.
- With Service Providers: We share information with third-party vendors and service providers that perform services on our behalf, such as Google Firebase for hosting, database, and authentication services.
- For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if we believe it's required by law, regulation, or legal process.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Google Firebase's secure servers. We take reasonable measures to help protect your information from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access. However, no electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Your Data Rights
You have the right to access, update, or request deletion of your personal information. You can manage some of your information through your in-app profile. For any requests to delete your account and associated data, please contact us at: support@scheme.gg
6. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.

Welcome to Scheme! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Scheme web application, future mobile applications, and any related services (collectively, the "Service"), provided by Defuddled.io ("we," "us," or "our").
Please read these Terms carefully before using our Service.
1. Agreement to Terms
By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. Intellectual Property Rights
Unless otherwise indicated, the Service is our proprietary property. All source code, databases, functionality, software, website designs, audio, video, text, photographs, and graphics on the Service (collectively, the "Content") and the trademarks, service marks, and logos contained therein (the "Marks") are owned or controlled by us or licensed to us. They are protected by copyright and trademark laws and various other intellectual property rights and unfair competition laws of the United States, foreign jurisdictions, and international conventions.
"Scheme," its card designs, characters, artwork, and game mechanics are the exclusive property of Defuddled.io. Except as expressly provided in these Terms, no part of the Service and no Content or Marks may be copied, reproduced, aggregated, republished, uploaded, posted, publicly displayed, encoded, translated, transmitted, distributed, sold, licensed, or otherwise exploited for any commercial purpose whatsoever, without our express prior written permission.
3. User Registration
You are required to register for an account to use the Service. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information during the registration process.
- Maintain the security of your password and accept all risks of unauthorized access to your account.
- Promptly notify us if you discover or otherwise suspect any security breaches related to the Service.
You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
4. Prohibited Activities
You may not access or use the Service for any purpose other than that for which we make the Service available. As a user of the Service, you agree not to:
- Use any automated means, including but not limited to bots, scripts, or spiders, to access, monitor, or interact with the Service, except with our prior written permission.
- Engage in cheating or any activity that we deem to be against the "spirit of the game." This includes exploiting bugs, using unauthorized third-party software, or colluding with other players.
- Harass, abuse, threaten, or incite violence towards any other user or our staff.
- Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose, or engage in, encourage, or promote any activity that violates these Terms.
- Attempt to decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble, or hack any of the Service's software.
- Use another user's account without permission.
- Post or transmit any content that is disruptive, uncivil, abusive, vulgar, obscene, hateful, fraudulent, or otherwise objectionable.
Violation of these rules may result in the immediate suspension or termination of your account, at our sole discretion.
5. Term and Termination
These Terms of Service shall remain in full force and effect while you use the Service.
WITHOUT LIMITING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF THESE TERMS, WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO, IN OUR SOLE DISCRETION AND WITHOUT NOTICE OR LIABILITY, DENY ACCESS TO AND USE OF THE SERVICE (INCLUDING BLOCKING CERTAIN IP ADDRESSES), TO ANY PERSON FOR ANY REASON OR FOR NO REASON, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION FOR BREACH OF ANY REPRESENTATION, WARRANTY, OR COVENANT CONTAINED IN THESE TERMS OR OF ANY APPLICABLE LAW OR REGULATION. WE MAY TERMINATE YOUR USE OR PARTICIPATION IN THE SERVICE OR DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT WITHOUT WARNING, IN OUR SOLE DISCRETION.
If we terminate or suspend your account for any reason, you are prohibited from registering and creating a new account under your name, a fake or borrowed name, or the name of any third party, even if you may be acting on behalf of the third party.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS-IS" AND "AS-AVAILABLE" BASIS. YOU AGREE THAT YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE WILL BE AT YOUR SOLE RISK. These Terms and your use of the Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington applicable to agreements made and to be entirely performed within the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
